We are proud of the PE curriculum and sporting opportunities that we have on offer at Christ the King Catholic Primary School. We firmly believe that sport not only contributes to the physical development of pupils but also makes a significant contribution to pupils’ personal well being and enjoyment of school. Each class receives a total of two hours PE a week.

The government has provided additional funding of £150 million per annum for academic years 2013 – 2014 and 2014 – 2015 to improve provision of PE and sport in primary schools. This funding is provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport and must be spent on PE and sport provision. The additional funding has been allocated to schools to develop a sports legacy following from the London Olympics 2012.

This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools but have the freedom to choose how they do this.
